Details: A rather plain exterior hides a strong history. This is a Grade ll listed building and even the Lacons brewery sign is part of that listing. It was originally a 16th century coaching inn and has a modest car park. There is, however, plenty of space at the side of the road.
The pub has been extensively refurbished on the inside and very tastefully done to mark the pub's equine history. I was ushered to the Stable Bar at the rear of the building. The variety of lighting is a delight and the exposed roof trusses had been carefully adorned with Christmas decorations.
I ordered "Baked Sea Bream with Salsa Verde New Potatoes and Charred Courgette" from a very interesting menu. What an absolute treat that was. The pub describes itself as a gastro pub. If that means it is a good food pub, I will not argue. This is a gem hidden away in rural Suffolk.
The liquid refreshment consisted of a pint of Greene King IPA.
The pub also caters for outside events.
